| This paper discusses an engineering design management system that integrates printed circuit board design data into a database supported by a relational database management in contrast to other reported systems that manage design data only the system described facilitates design process management by enforcing procedural constraints inherent in the design process itself design process constraints can be dynamically altered to accommodate can be dynamically altered to accommodate changes in the design process by combining design data and process management the system creates an integrated design environment. the design management system described is a menu-driven interactive multi-user system that integrates engineering workstations layout devices automatic test equipment and numerically-controlled manufacturing tools into a common design database the system has been in use at Mitel locations in Caldicot wales and Kanata Ontario since October of 1984. |
