ABSTRAK

This research aims to develop a feature identification method based on faceted model 3D for Intelligent Advance Computer Aided Manufacturing System (CAM-System) using fuzzy logic which its membership functions are fomed based on control points. This approach is different from ordinary fuzzy which membership function is generated based on specific formula / equation. Using control points, user is able to determine the most appropriate membership functions by himself and modify them freely without bounded by a specific formula. This advantage is very useful when user want to create a membership function for a case which cannot be solved using standard membership function formula. After identification process, segmentation is condected to divide model into several parts / segments based on their position and characteristic. There are several segmentation methods implemented in this research. Beside dividing model based on its characteristic, segmentation process can correct some mistakes from previous process i.e. misidentified shape in a region or point. Machining configuration will be adjusted according to the segments characteristic. The result shows that fuzzy can improve the quality of identification and segmentation process. Therefore identification method using fuzzy is highly recommeded to be implemented in Intelligent Advance CAM-System which is being developed.
