Title : Multi-Channel Access in Multimedia Information
Retrieval System
The development of technology has impact on the improvement of the
multimedia content. The multimedia information retrieval system offers solution
on searching multimedia content. Most of the access to the multimedia
information retrieval system is only provided by one channel access. Meanwhile,
nowadays, there are various communication devices could be used to access
multimedia content. The limitation of access service provided by the multimedia
information retrieval system with its various access service from communication
devices reduce access opportunities to the multimedia information retrieval
system. The existing communication devices at this era have different
characteristics such as the ability to play audio, video, limitation of screen size
and network connection. Besides that, the development of communication device
access technology demand multimedia information retrieval system able to
provide access service dynamically so that it could maintain the accessibility of
multimedia information retrieval system. Regarding to that, in this study the we
build Multi-channel Access architecture so that the service of multimedia
information retrieval system can be accessed from various communication
devices. The research methodology consists of problem identification; create
sample data, architecture design, implementation and testing, and evaluation. The
architecture produced consists of access provider module, integrator module,
content adaptation module, and multimedia information retrieval system module.
The result of testing shows that the users have more access options (accessibility)
to the multimedia information retrieval system, it increase data availability for
various communication devices and dynamic integration method
(interoperability) for the additional access service.
