Since a few years ago, there is an increasing demand for video-conference applications on the network, various network characteristics make the deployment of these applications more challenging. traditional network which use ISDN only proper for two users on video-conference and to make it profer for multi-user needs to adapt IP technology. between ISDN and IP technology need a bridge to connect both of them. multipoint control unit is a tool that connect dial-up base network to IP-based network. packet loss can be detrimental to compressed video with interpendent frames because errors potentially propagate across many frames. many techniques deploy to recover packet loss such as forward error correction, interleaving, retransmission, and error conceal ment. there are several advantage and disadvantage in each technique. video-conference is an interactive application which has tigh latency bounds and less delay. for this reason application need a good packet-loss recovery technique. this paper discuss about packet loss, how to recover it, compare it with others and then conclude which is the best for this video-conference application.
