There are several methods and algorithms for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data processing and each are convenint for their main purposes. in this paper range doppler (RD) processing is proposed. it was the first and most common SAR data processing algorithm. a common convetion is to call the azimuth fourier domain the "doppler" domain in the SAR community. hence, this algorithm derives its name from the fact that SAR takes the advantage of the doppler history of the ragar echoes generated by the forward motion of the aircraft to synthesize a large antenna. moreover, this paper also provides the RD SAR simulation in two-dimensions using point target it is implemented in MATLAB. the main focus is to better understand how the two-dimensional RD image processing works, an example using a single point in the center of the target area follows. the working principles, modeling, data processing and simulation results would show how the RD system works and is effective on SAR image system.
