Badan Pusat Statistik or Statistics Indonesia is anational institution with data and information as its business core. The institution is currently using Windows as its operating system that is vulnerable to vuruses and otherthreats. Besides, there is a national regulation for using free and open source software. The movement is known as Indonesia Go Open Source (IGOS). The objective of this of this research is to observe the problem that that occurs when using Windows, to collect information on applications used daily, and develop a GNU/Linux distribution package that meets the needs in BPS. This research also collects data and discusses the creation of a GNU/Linux package applicable in BPS. The research methodologies are: to arrange a survey for collecting information, and then develop a GNU/Linux distribution based on the information obtained from the survey. The GNU/Linux distribution resulted from this research can meet the needs BPS with some implications and consequences.
