Smartcard is a card which has high level security. Smartcard usage in indonesia has been only limited to cellular phone card and credit card from a number of banks. Smartcard from time has evolved and becomes ubiquitous. One example is identity card. Data of any format can be saved to smartcard. Indonesian government has planned to implement identity card with a single identity number system (SIN). The purpose of it is for data efficiency and security. This number will be given to the public at birth and they will use the number for their whole life, and this number can be used for any purpose, like birth certificate, identity card, Passport and other card application. With smartcard, the government can implement their plan easily, because smartcard has the capability to save larger amountof data and more secure than conventional card that we use today.
