Merpati Nusantara Airlines is a national big airlines company that uses information technology infrastructure to serve ticketing reservation system in Indonesia. The existing information technology infrastructure can only be used for reservation system and it is viable that given a new information technology infrastructure, Merpati could leverage for competitive services and efficient operations. The new development of the infrastructure development is used as ticketing reservation system and also to serve internal need’s Merpati Nusantara Airlines.
The initial development began with survey and the result will be analyzed in business and technical domains. The result of the analysis will be used as a foundation for the requirements of new infrastructure development.
The new infrastructure comprises of four layers: shared infrastructure, transactional, informational and strategic, from operational levels up to strategic levels at the business units. By partition into this model, the new infrastructure can be structured and developed according to those layers. In this thesis, we proposed a set of design for integrated new infrastructure based on Internet Protocol technology, which provides common infrastructure for Merpati’s network. The design covered Local Area Network, Wide Area Network and E-business reservation via Internet.
