In this paper, an implementation of starfruit maturity classification algorithm based on YCbCr color space in an embedded system is presented. the maturity of the starfruit is classified based on new color feature, which is the hue between red and green color components denoted as . the RG hue is derived and represented based o YCbCr because the input data to main processing is YCbCr format. field programmble gates array (FPGA) is selected to be main processor of the system because of the system because of the capability of parallel exectution on the algorithm and also because of its low power consumption. the image data is transferred into the FPGA trough ITU-R 656 Decoder with YCbCr 4:2:2 color systems. firstly, the system will segment the starfruit image in order to reove the background by using fixed thereshold value. then, index maturity classification ia performed using simple rule-based classifer. in this work, classification accuracy of 90% was achieved and the result display on LCD
