ABSTRACT
Various ways can be used to improve the security of confidential information, one of them is called steganography, the rapid development of digital technology allows steganography to conceal a variety of image files into audio files. The main purpose of this research is to discuss the process of hiding secret information in the form of grayscale images into wav/mp3 audio files with the LSB steganographymethod.
Selection of wav/mp3 files for the cover media is done considering of the wav/mp3 file size and its popularity to save digital music, while the election of grayscale image rather than the true color image, is based on consideration that the grayscale image is only store gray level information from the image, that make less information to be hidden compared to the concealment of the true color image, so it will not interfere so much the quality of wav/mp3 files as the media cover.
The results shown that the hidden grayscale image could be re-constructed into its shape (Desteganografi) while the quality of wav/mp3 audio file that was used as cover could still be maintained. Those were proven from from the results of the PSNR test that shown average values above 30 db and the MOS test averaged values is 4.5 (excellent).
