ABSTRAK

ABSTRAK Crypto assets are digital assets that have investment value and are recognised as commodities by the Indonesian Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti). Crypto assets are sold in crypto assets exchanges, with some being available in mobile platforms. Numerous reviews concerning the lack of usability in using crypto assets exchange were found in app stores, mostly saying that difficult and complicated feature hinder them from using the app to trade crypto assets efficiently. This study aims to evaluate the usability issues that crypto assets exchange applications in Indonesia may have. To approach the study, applications are chosen by sorting the ratings and number of downloads, which comes down to three apps: Indodax, Tokocrypto, and Pintu. These apps are then analysed and compared for their information architecture and main feature pages. Next, contextual interviews and usability testing are conducted with a user and non-user group consisting of five participants each and heuristics evaluation done by three experts based on Nielsen’s Ten Usability Heuristics. The completion rate for each apps from the users are 83% for Indodax, 86% for Tokocrypto, and 87% for Pintu while expert evaluators found 41 usability problems with most violating the eighth principle which is aesthetic and minimalist design. These data are then clustered and triangulated to make a prioritization of problems. A set of design recommendations and low-fidelity mock ups are constructed as a solution to the problems found. This study found that crypto exchange mobile applications in Indonesia still have plenty of room for improvement, especially in the learnability aspect.
