Local Area Network has been widely implemented in office environment to transfer messages, short memo, electronic mail, etc. Which is very useful for administration needs. In contrast to office environment, industrial computer networks are used to send measurement data from various instruments, status check and monitoring results, and also control signals for industrial machines and measuring instruments which has different message patterns than computer network for office use. For industrial needs, data must be sent periodically in short packets and should reach to its destination in a predetermined time delay. Due to this characte- ristics, industrial networks prefers Token bus type protocol rather than statistical CSMA/CD type for office environments. Two network parameters: media utilization and message delay are used to shows that Token-based protocol has better network performance than CSMA/CD based network.
