Multi Agent System (MAS) and web services are emerging technologies in the distributed environment. Both of these are preferred by the business community to execute their businesses. Researchers and architects are proposing and developing architectures for the integration of MAS with Web Services Resource Framework (WSRF) to achieve scalability and interoperability but these architectures are not IEEE Foundation of Intelligent Physical Agent (FIPA) compliant. Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a technology that has the potential to develop interoperable technological solutions for software applications. It is used in web services as a backbone for information exchange. WSRF acts like an interface for accessing the grid resources. Its merger with other technologies, such as agents, enables the applications to utilize the benefits from grid resources. This paper proposes a generic architecture for the integration of MAS with WSRF according to IEEE FIPA specifications. The proposed architecture enables the agents to access the web or grid services by using the WSDL-Ontology that is defined for this purpose. In this architecture Message Transport Service (MTS) is used as a central hub for communication between agent(s) and service providers. It has been argued that the proposed architecture is interoperable efficient and IEEE FIPA compliant. Keywords: Multi agent systems, web services, ontology, message transport services, WSDL.
