Rule-based Question Answering (QA) systems require a comprehensive set of rules to guide its search for the right answer. Presently, many rules for QA systems are derived manually. This paper presents a question answering methodology as well as proposes an automatic rule extraction methodology to obtain sufficient rules to guide the matching process between the question and potential answers in the repository.
