Computer revolution has been moving so fast, it makes information technology implementation is more complex to be done. Complex in implementation means complex in maintenance. A system must always being maintained so it will be available when needed for business operation. Unfortunately many companies today doesn't seems to care about their information system availability, they don't know if their information system stops working means they can't do their business. The more complex information technology architecture we implement then the more complex high availability architecture we can adopted. Many vendors offer high availability solution like clustering, replication, or mirroring, we know which one is best for us and which one is the most optimal architecture, since high availability means a lot of money to be spend. This final project will make an analysis of high availability implementation based on information system implementation CIS-RISI at PT PLN. CIS-RISI is an information system that generate electricity bill for costumers. Analysis will be based on the impact of disruption CIS-RISI information system to PT PLN business operation and based on the Service Level Agreement that has been approved to maintain the file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/atik/Desktop/PA-47.txt (1 of 64)1/1/2000 6:08:05 PM file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/atik/Desktop/PA-47.txt availability of CIS-RISI system. Step to be done in this final project first is to make a business process analysis of PT PLN especially a process that include in the CIS-RISI application, then make an analysis of what component that build this application, that component is what to be protect to bring an available CIS-RISI system. To get a justification for high availability solution, Bussiness Impact Analysis (BIA) will be used as a tool to analyzed what is exactly availability of CIS-RISI system will be needed to minimized the impact of downtime to business operation of PT PLN. Based on the BIA result some high availibity solution will be offer to fulfill PT PLN needs of CIS-RISI application.
